Iron Springs received a Gold Medal in the Oatmeal Stout category for their Sless’ Stimulating Stout, named after one of the world’s most premier pedal steel players, Barry Sless.   World Beer Cup 2008 winners were selected by an international panel of 129 beer judges from 22 countries. An impressive field of 2,930 entries from 646 breweries in 58 countries made up the competition.
The Iron Springs team traveled to and from this year’s World Beer Cup in the Ambrewlance, a converted ambulance that is powered by recycled vegetable oil from their fryers. The Ambrewlance can usually be found delivering Iron Springs’ handcrafted ales all over the Bay Area.

The WBC is held every two years. In 2006, Iron Springs won a Bronze for their Epiphany Ale. Iron Springs is now 2 for 2 in bringing home World Beer Cup medals. Click here for the official press release in PDF format.

  • Iron Springs just completed another phase of our goal of reducing our footprint on the world by completing our new lighting retrofit. This energy conservation measure will save 13,345 kwh/yr, 3.210 kw, and reduce the emission of carbon dioxide {co2} into the atmosphere by 6,939 lbs/yr. We continue to seek out and explore new ways of running the most energy efficient, low impact business, that we possibly can.

  • We have redone our banquet room which we are officially calling the Green Room. We have filled the room with furniture made from recycled & reclaimed old growth wood & we are using low energy bulbs in the lights, adding to our "Green Theme", and it is the bands green room, and who doesn't like a little Green in every room?
